12 Days Nairobi to Kakamega Forest Biking Expedition

This 12 days biking expedition explores the beauty of Rift valley lakes. You wil get chance to walk and bike on the shores of Lake Naivasha, Elmentaita, Nakuru, Bogoria and Lake Baringo.

HIGHLIGHTS. Limuru tea farms, Great Rift Valley view point, Mount Longonot, Hells Gate National park, Lake Naivasha, Lake Elmentaita, bogoria, Nakuru and Baringo.This trip gives you chance to see lots of birds and wildlife in Rift valley lakes. You will also get chance to go on bird walks in kakamega tropical rain forest in western Kenya.

 ITINERARY

Day 1.Drive out of Nairobi to Limuru tea farms where we off load our bikes and start biking past tea plantations to the Great Rift Valley view point where we wil stop to admire the views before biking to our lodge located below the valley. We wil later bike off road to our lodge past local Maasai villages. Overnight and dinner at the lodge.

Day 2. Today we bike from our lodge to the foot hill of Mount longonot where we wil climb the mountain to admire the stunning views of Lake Naivasha and the surrounding areas. You will need trekking boots and light clothes for hot weather. The trek on mount Longonot takes about 4/5 hrs going up and descending. Your guide wil brief you into detail regarding the trek. From longonot we drive to our lodge located on the shores of Lake Naivasha where hippos come to graze on the shores at night. Overnight and dinner at Fish Eagle lodge.

Day 3.Have breakfast then go on boat safari across Lake Naivasha to search for hippos and birds. Later after boat safari we wil drive to Hells Gate National park to bike a mongst wildlife and birds. Hells Gate National park offers stunning views and Gorge walk. We later drive to Elsamare in the late afternoon, the late home of joy and Gorge Adamson for documentary movie, cream tea and cakes. Overnight and dinner at Fish Eagle lodge.

Day 4.Drive to Wileli private Game Sanctuary for escorted game walk safari. You wil get chance to spot zebras,giraffes,warthogs,impalas,elands,buffalos and other wildlife on foot. Overnight and dinner at Fish Eagle lodge.

Day 5.We drive from Southern to Northern shores of Lake Naivasha to Kasarani village where we wil bike on the northern shores of Lake Naivasha with stunning views over the hills to our lodge for swimming and lunch before driving back to Nairobi in the late afternoon.

Day 6.After lunch and swimming at our lodge at Lake Naivasha we drive to Lake Elmentaita salt lake for afternoon nature walk to search for flamingos’ and other birds. Overnight and dinner at our lodge located on the shores of Lake Elmentaita.

Day 7.Drive to Lake Nakuru National park for full day game drive. This park is famous for birds, lions, rhinos, buffalos and other wildlife. Overnight and dinner at our lodge in Nakuru town.

Day 8.Drive to Marigat village then bike past local villages, schools and farms to our lodge located on the shores of Lake Bogoria. Overnight and dinner at our lodge.

Day 9.Morning nature walk on the shores of this lovely lake then bike to Lake Baringo where we wil get chance to go on afternoon boat safari to search for hippos, crocodiles and birds.Overninght and dinner on the shores of the lake.

Day 10. Nature walk and village walk to experience the traditions and culture of local Njemps tribes living on the shores of Lake Baringo.

Day 11.Drive to kakamega tropical rain forest located in western Kenya. The forest offers the finest bird walks in east Africa. There is also chance to see lots of monkeys and butterflies.Overnignight and dinner in our lodge located on the edge of the forest.

Day 12.Full day escorted bird walks in this tropical rain forest.
